Christ Tahchidi biography

An interview with Academician Khristy Periklovich Tahchidi in the operating room on November 15, the names of new academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences were announced. The highest scientific title of Russia was also awarded an ophthalmologist, doctor of medical sciences, professor, chairman of the Moscow Society of the Greeks Christ Periklovich Tahchidi.

We talked with Christ Pericallovich about this event and what it means to himself and for the Greek diaspora. Please tell us how your scientific career developed? What was the path of the future academician? Science interested me from about the third year. Medicine is such a profession where it is impossible to be a good professional without a scientific approach, because all people are different, different organisms, tissues and systems.

Naturally, the same diseases go differently in different organisms. Each time, faced with the patient, you essentially solve the scientific problem: you need to decipher that this is how it is specifically in this patient, how this person can and should be treated. I always tell my students about the fact that if you want to become a good doctor, master, you must definitely defend his dissertation.

Not in order to have a diploma of the candidate of sciences, but in order to own the methodology of scientific analysis, the ability to set the goal, task, collect the material, analyze, get the result. Based on this result, to make correction into your hypotheses, which you initially had about the causes and mechanisms of this disease, about how to treat it, and so on.

But in daily practice, several patients will certainly be found who do not correspond to any template structure, that is, it is not clear what kind of illness it is and how to treat it. It is here that it is important to own scientific tools, because each time you solve an unknown task, as is the case in science: people involved in science set themselves problems and try to solve them with some unknown methods, new ones are born.

Medicine is very close to this methodology. For me, this was understandable since my student years, so science, clinic and healing have been a single process for me, and these areas get along in one person to date, because one enriches the other.

Christ Tahchidi biography

The clinic gives me the opportunity to have rich practical material, science makes it possible to use my knowledge and skills in non -standard complex situations, when a person has not one disease, but several, a combination, various combinations, which much complicates the tasks of understanding the disease and its treatment. For me, these two processes are absolutely inseparable among themselves.

What I do is one profession. Pirogov and at the same time director of the research center of ophthalmology at the university, practicing an ophthalmologist. In each area of activity, you have achieved the highest results. What has been an election for you to Academics of the Russian Academy of Sciences? Usually this is evaluated by other people - this is how human society is arranged.

How does this happen in ordinary life? If the doctor is good, he has a large long queue, he always has a lot of patients, because he heals well, he has good knowledge and skills. And if we are talking to you about healing, then everything is simple: the quality of the doctor is determined by the length of the line standing at his office. And if we are talking about science, the situation is much more difficult here, because only experts, people of science can evaluate scientific results.

And there is a certain coordinate system in which your scientific merits are recognized. These are candidate and doctoral dissertations, obtaining the titles of associate professors, professors and promoting the stairs, where the highest stage is an academic title. Obtaining the title of Academician suggests that the professional community of people who are engaged in the same profession recognizes a high -class specialist in you.

This is certainly pleasant, because everyone wants to understand where he is in the system of professional coordinates. You can find out only through an assessment of your colleagues. This system is a certain recognition, I do not want to say that it is absolute. Of course, there are situations when people receive academic titles that are not quite consistent with them, but there are situations when people do not receive an academic rank, but in fact they are academics, since they are high -class professionals.

Nevertheless, this coordinate system exists and is of great importance. Blokhina ”of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Professor Ivan Socratovich Stylidi and a chemist, head of the Laboratory of the Institute of Organic Chemistry named after And this is the only situation in the Russian Academy of Sciences, when at the same time three Greeks received the titles of academicians.

I am very proud that my contemporaries, people of my diaspora, my close friends received this high appreciation in the scientific environment. What does it give? In fact, this shows that the Greek mission in Russia continues. Our ancestors brought here the Orthodox faith, made up the alphabet, organized the first gymnasiums and higher educational institutions, taught Russian icon painting artists, and did a lot of other things with an educational goal.

Today I see a continuation of this work. We are the Greeks living in Russia, we continue our activities, we are active members of society, we bring great benefits to this state, country, people - in essence, we do what the Greeks always did. And this was the philosophy of the Greek people, who gave his whole history his discoveries, inventions, innovations, and science to the surrounding peoples.

It was the most correct philosophy, because the level of education of people creates an environment that is much more peaceful, more in contact, more diplomatic, where people of different nationalities and cultures live in peace, community, helping each other and creating common values. This is such a mission, the essence of the Greek people, and I am very pleased that we continue to move in this direction, we are useful people in our society.

Such examples of the highest results in professional activities motivate young Greeks for development and education. Do you feel your mission in this? This has always stimulated me to improve, work, work, rise, make a career, in a good sense of the word. And I really hope that our achievements will also be an example for our youth, which will be even better in the future, even stronger: there will be not three, but much more academicians in the Russian Academy of Sciences.

For the sake of this, we live to accumulate knowledge, transmit them to the next generation, give them the opportunity to be better than us. Inna Sheff, www. November, Moscow Source page:
