Zubrin came to Kyiv to take part in the scientific conferences of Inscience, which was dedicated to the topic of the post -war restoration of Ukraine. In an interview with Gordon, the engineer spoke about the first space war, the importance of developing modern technologies in Ukraine, and how they will help to defeat Russia.

Ukraine will develop rapidly after the war. People now get many new skills that they will use after the war - Robert, what did you expect before arriving in Kyiv? What did you really see in Kyiv? For the first time in Soviet times, and then again a year. This time I expected to see the city in the siege. But nothing of the kind. I saw more military in the streets than in the year.

I saw women in military uniforms who were engaged in humanitarian aid. I became a witness to air anxiety, but none of the people nearby paid any attention to air anxiety. People continued to stand at a stop, wait for the bus or go about their business. People had no fear. It greatly struck me. I don’t know what Putin wants to achieve with his missile strikes, but he does not manage to intimidate people, he just in vain spends ammunition.

But still you arrived in Kyiv to take part in the Inscience conference. Do you think the country's development stops war? I had to go to Kyiv by train, and not fly by plane. Obviously, everyone who will think about opening a business in Ukraine will face many difficulties now. Also, Ukraine is limited to maritime trade. It is difficult to transport goods by sea, since ships can be affected by missiles.

At the same time, I believe that people in Ukraine are much more united than they were in the year. I think that today a significant number of people experience a strong sense of a common goal. Of course, Ukraine has lost a certain part of talented people. Millions of people left Ukraine. However, while we were waiting for a train in Poland, we saw a long queue of Ukrainians who also sat on the same train and returned to Ukraine.

At first, people panicked and began to take extraordinary security measures. However, already in the second year of pandemia, most people have a common lifestyle. So with the war. In the beginning, people in Kyiv were much more afraid of missile shelling. And now the only thing that reminded me of air alarm is my smartphone. I do not know the exact numbers. The news reported that several people died the other day in Kyiv from missile strikes.

Probably more people died in an accident or by the hands of criminals. However, such events do not fall into the news, because they are already perceived as part of everyday life. But I think that Ukraine will develop rapidly after the war. People are now getting many new skills that they will use after the war. The United States could send several hundred F and provide Ukraine with an advantage in the air. Does Ukraine have a chance to become part of this global space for the development of space? And she must take such a participation. This is an urgent need. There are things related to space that can strengthen Ukraine in this war right now. There are things that can strengthen Ukraine in the medium -term long term.

I believe that Ukraine will win in this war. You will drive Russians from their territory. However, Russia itself will not go anywhere. She will remain your neighbor. And he will try to attack again. I think Ukraine is in a situation similar to Israel, which also has bad neighbors. After the war, Ukraine must strengthen itself to such an extent that the Russians could not even come close.

Today we are witnesses of the First Cosmic War. To a large extent, Ukraine is kept thanks to the technologies related to space: communication systems, high -precision weapons, intelligence and navigation equipment. There are more soldiers in Russia, more tanks, more artillery. Russia fights mass. And Ukraine repulses with a high -precision weapon. You sunk the Moscow cruiser thanks to high -precision weapons.

You did not release 50 missiles along the cruiser. You released two missiles, and both hit the target exactly. When the United States dealt with Iraq, we also used space technologies, but they were not decisive. We would defeat Iraq without these technologies. Yes, we reduced our losses in Iraq, made a military campaign more effective, but space technologies did not play a decisive role then.

In the Ukrainian war, space technology is a decisive factor.Just as in the Second World War, the advantage of aircraft in the air played a key role, so now space technologies play a key role in this war. Ukraine needs its own space technologies. Now you are counting on the help of America. But this help depends on the vagaries of the American administration. In the year, Ukraine won the war in Donetsk.

Russia began to pull its troops for the environment of Ukrainians. The Russians managed to cordon off a significant number of Ukrainians and strike at the Armed Forces of Ukraine. American intelligence satellites could not but see the concentration of Russian troops near the border with Ukraine. We had this information. But then Barack Obama did not share this information with Ukraine.

And this entailed a disaster in the east of Ukraine. During the war, which began on February 24, America shares with Ukraine space intelligence. Responsibility for decisions made on the basis of this information lies entirely in Ukraine. And Ukraine used the information provided by the US to prepare for the war. The only serious breakthrough of the Russian troops occurred only in southern Ukraine.

Unfortunately, the United States did not send weapons before the invasion, although America knew that the war would begin. Many of the Americans, including me personally, shouted: "Send the weapons to the Ukrainians right now. There is a chance to avoid invasion." But then the United States did not send weapons. Well, at least shared reconnaissance data.

I would like to tell you that you can always count on comprehensive US support. But I can't. There will always be a certain number of Americans on the side of Ukraine, but you cannot expect their voices will always prevail. Ukraine needs to have its own space forces. Ukraine should be able to destroy Russian space forces. Right now, when we are saying, the space satellites of Russians fly over our heads.

Satellites transmit intelligence information, topographic information to Russians, and communicate for missiles. If Ukraine had space technologies, you could destroy these satellites. The United States cannot do it for you. Great Britain cannot do it for you. Ukraine must be able to do it on its own.
