Irina Pyzhyanova biography

She is a well -known folklore singer and multi -instrumentalist, winner of the Russian World Music Awards in the nomination "Best Authentic Project", laureate of the All -Russian Festival "Music of the Earth". From April to September, Irina Pyzhyanova will give 12 concerts in the Vladimir region as part of the project “We were in a round dance: a folk song in a modern ethnocultural context”.

Its goal is to popularize and preserve the folk song. I will perform folk songs of different regions of Russia, talk about songs, traditions related to them. The first concert will be held in Suzdal, in the Kremlin Cross Chamber. Game seminars are also planned, where each participant will be able to get the first singing skills in the Russian song tradition, to learn the traditional round dance song “Flax, Lada”, get acquainted with the voice techniques characteristic of ethnic singing, to learn about its influence on modern performing creativity and our life.

This manner, unlike pseudo-folklore, is unusual, and often simply unfamiliar to most listeners. How unfamiliar and rites associated with these songs. Does all this interfere with the perception of your work by the public? Since then, some people have a misunderstanding of this music and even rejection. At first it hurt me very much. But I like folklore itself, it’s so beautiful, so right.

I try to tell about my concerts about each song: when she was singing, as I met with this song, what emotions she causes in me. Yes, some people have a misunderstanding of this layer of our culture - from ignorance. They just haven't had a meeting yet. And to those who say that he does not like a folk song, I always answer - you just do not know her. And after concerts, these same people admit that for them a meeting with folklore became a shock - the joy of recognizing their own.

Someone recalls that his village grandmother sang so, and someone did not have such a grandmother, but there is recognition at the genetic level. Moreover, young people perceive authentics better. And a lot of young musicians are now performing folk music. I have been getting used to the stage from the music school. She began in the children's folklore ensemble “Rodnichki” at a music school in Perm, participated in several independent projects - “Nameless drummers”, “Voronovo wing”, “Inva”, “astronauts”.

For the past 12 years, she worked in the Perm House of Folk Art, now I continue to do my life in St. Petersburg. At the same time, I tried several times to leave activities related to the performance of folklore, for various reasons, but this is my fate - folklore. This is a huge pleasure. To sing is generally a great joy. And folk singing has its own magic. On stage, this can also be felt, but in the field, in the forest - where the folk song lived, this is a real mystery.

You start singing and feel that through this sound you merge with all that things. It seems to me that ritual singing is a way of a person to feel in the world present. In winter, some songs are sung, consonant with the state of nature, in the spring - others. People sing and embed their sound in the sound of the world. One friend of mine said: when you hear folklore, it seems to speak with you eternity.

Tell us about them. Deco is made so that Gusli acquired a particularly voluminous sound. Under the wheeled lyre, spiritual poems were usually performed. I sing them too. But I also perform ritual songs to the accompaniment of a wheeled lira. This instrument has a very bright and expressive sound, despite a certain monotony. The murmur “Spring is red” is also sung in a bright sound, and there is quite an ancient melting, not many notes, it is also monotonous.

I liked how it sounds together. But the combination of Russian folklore with harp is really unusual. Although the Celtic harp is different from the classical, and they play mainly folk music. There is a separate story. I heard at the festival a performance by an artist who played at the Celtic harp. And an hour and a half cried, could not stop - this is how this music struck me.

This has never happened to me. I wanted to play such an harp myself. And the master who makes them lived in Hungary, and it was necessary to wait long for him to make a tool for me - at least a year and a half. But, apparently, my desire was so strong that I received a harp in just four months-for some reason, one of the customers refused the tool, and I got the harp.

Now I am performing Russian folklore and accompanied by harp. Folklore is the most lively music. And there has always been and there is a place for improvisation and for your own interpretation. Songs should live, develop. Starting from the very first - "nameless drummers." The musicians at the beginning of the two thousandth, unable to purchase drums, made them themselves.

And I sang folk songs, adjusting to their rhythms. It was unusual, but very interesting. The taste and understanding that folk music was made - the place of experiments. We traveled throughout Russia with the Voronovo Krylov group, performed at almost all ethno-festivals.In the year, together with Valery Tolstov, the Cosmonauts project began, which combined folklore with electronic music.

Speaking of astronauts. There is such a cartoon Galina Golubeva "Oh, like our astronauts." The song was recorded by researchers in the year. It is in the traditions of that area, but on relatively modern material. I fulfill it too. I know that you went to ethnographic expeditions now I don’t go, I work with archives. Unfortunately, often all this is available and is in demand by a very narrow circle of people engaged in ethnography.

It is not fair that no one hears such an invaluable cultural inheritance that these wonderful songs do not sing. I would like to return them to people. But there are open archives. I came across an archive on the Internet - there were or Tver songs there, I listened to them for several years. And some of them I sing now. Some songs immediately go to my heart, cling, and immediately the thought begins to work, how can I sing it.

Others - after a while they "pop up" from memory. You understand that this is also “your” song. You start working with her. I brought three completely “new” songs to the Vladimirites - a Trinity song, “We were in a round dance”, which gave the name to our project, and “You are a beast, but my beast”. Andrei Kotov, the head of the Moscow Spiritual Music Ensemble “Sirin” said that when they were engaged in a complex theater project, demanding not only singing work, his singers said that their mission was to maintain the traditions of Russian spiritual singing.

And he replied: “I beg you, what is the mission? We are saved by this. ” This is my attitude reflects. I do not consider my activity a mission. For me, this is an internal need to share this music with others. As if I had found a jewel and I really want to share joy with everyone. I am saved by this.
