Biography of Kimchi
Noticed that the most striking events always happen unexpectedly? So four days before the exit, a friend called us and offered to go to the press tour of the Chinese province of Jilin. Yura accumulated a lot of things, and I thought that the seaside summer at the end, personal plans for August were made, and decided to arrange a week -long holidays in China.
Walking around cities is always more interesting in the company - new acquaintances, new impressions and new emotions. Our team had 12 different, original, creative and insanely interesting people with whom I was lucky to travel. The first stop of our route was the beloved city of Hunchun. True, in it we were not for long, we drove for lunch in the Pivarvarnya Guan Yuan.
For tastes, dishes and spill green, we chatted, met each other. After lunch, we went to the Korean-Chinese city of Yanji. They settled in a hotel, dismantled things and went to a Kimchi production factory.
Hotel in Yanbian International Hotel. My first love for Kimchi happened in the city of Seoul, there I tried it and realized that I could not live without him now. Learning to cook kimchi - it was my dream. At the factory we were met by the leaders of the enterprise, conducted a briefing and arranged a tour of the factory. In such blocks, Beijing cabbage for Kimchi is dried.
I did not know that before cooking kimchi, first you need to dry the Beijing cabbage, or rather, evaporate moisture. All this occurs in almost sterile conditions. Looking at the whole process of production, and pretty for a walking appetite, we went to learn to prepare this traditional Korean snack with the whole team. I did not find anything complicated in preparation, removing the vlog with one hand, and with the other, smearing the cabbage leaves with a special paste, for the first time in my life I prepared a real kimchi, which I immediately tried.
It is impossible tasty. After a fascinating lesson, we were treated to other traditional Korean snacks - pickled cucumbers, Daikon and others, the taste of which remained a mystery to me. It is a pity that Kimchi was not shared with the secret of cooking the pasta, they did not share with us, they only said that this pasta consists of 30! I would cook Kimchi at home every week.
In our country, kimchi is sold, which Russian Koreans prepares, but it is most likely already adapted to our stomachs, and from which it only vaguely resembles the taste of real Korean kimchi. Having made a couple of personnel with the factory employees as a keepsake, we went on. We were waiting for a unique factory for the production of drums. The first thing I recall this factory is the incredible smell of a tree that enveloped us as soon as the door opened.
Until this moment, I did not suspect that there could be so many types of drums, and that they were all completely different in sound. The head of the factory, a dear man of 77 years old, who will never give his age, a maximum of 60, conducted a tour for us and told how unique musical instruments that sounded at the opening of the Olympics in Beijing are born. This factory is the only one in China!
In only one place in the country, these unique drums are produced, and we were lucky enough to visit there. In addition to China, drums are delivered to other countries, including to Russia - to our native Vladivostok. To visit this place is an incredible opportunity to plunge into the atmosphere of sounds and melodies, which I did not know about before. These are the impressions that remain for life, because they are unique and unique.
In the evening we were waiting for a delicious dinner in a traditional Korean restaurant. A full table of food, beloved Korean snacks, a warm atmosphere, friendly songs and chatter about what they managed to see in a day and how the city of Yanji impressed us. In just one day, I managed to fall in love with Yanji on the ears. It was my fifth visit to this city, and I finally realized that I want to return here with Yura for a few days, in order to slowly take a walk along the Korean quarters, climb the mountain hat, go along the evening embankment, illuminated like a Christmas tree, go to a restaurant for dinner and feel like a little Korea.
Five more unforgettable days in China were waiting for me ahead, which you read about in the next posts. I want to thank my old friend and general director of the tourist portal about China Visitchina. For the organization of our trip, comfortable support on the entire route, professionalism and personal participation, I thank the travel company of the world and its director Anna Filimonova.
