PEGGY GOU Biography

This mix of seemingly familiar elements suddenly sounds very fresh and unusual. And in honor of such a sudden popularity of the song, I propose to get acquainted with its author - Peggy Gou. Naturally, such a successful name cannot be real. All this background should give you an understanding that her music could not be very ordinary.

PEGGY GOU Biography

Just as Asian and European cultures met in it, in her music there are familiar club bits, synths of pop music of the eighties and dreamy melodies. At the same time, its tracks turn out to be multi-faced: I can easily imagine them both in the lounge bar, and on the dance radio and in more energetic mixes in the club, the versatility of Peggy’s music was obvious immediately.

Her first single was Hungboo in honor of the hero of the Korean fairy tale, on which Asian elements are clearly heard. The sounds of nature, samples of screams incomprehensible to me draw pictures from Asian animation before my eyes: beautiful mountains, fogs, rain, small bridges through narrow streams, traditional temples near the triumph of modern civilization and this track turned out to be a similar meeting of traditions and modern club culture.

Her Mini-albums Art of War to m added four more tracks to the girl’s discography. Here the influence of native culture is no longer so heard. The tracks were reminded of a monotonous house playing under a neon light: with weightless pades and stubborn bats, as if from a drama-machine of the eighties. All trend artists appear there. And, apparently, realizing that the audience expects her and that she herself knows how to do best, she began to release even more interesting music.

At the Once mini-album, she sang for the first time, although this presentation can be just as successfully called muttering, which sounds rather unusual, after all the bright hums with a loud and powerful vocal on the radio. IT Make You Forget Itgehane is again surprising by a combination of esid-sections with the energy of technology and the sad classic disco-all this is still powdered by elements of African music.

And this mix sounds cheerfully and openly, but immediately mystically and strange. Han Jan from the same release is more reminiscent of the classic underground house of the nineties, and I personally am very pleased with the “dusty” sound. But you can really love Peggy style after listening to Moment EP. In any case, Starry Night four years ago became my first track of Peggy. At first, the song repelled me with a long instrumental introduction, but over time I realized that all the tracks of Peggy are developing leisurely, the layer behind the layer is revealed in front of the listener - it is not one of those artists who dump everything at once on a two -minute track.

At least, she was not so until they released her most populist track It goes Like Nanana. The song over the month overtook the indicators of Starry Night, the most popular among her and got into the top ten in many European countries, and also headed the hit parades of many radio stations. It turned out that Peggy knows how to create real pop hits well, not particularly departing from his corporate identity.

This was the first appearance of the artist in such an important list, and such an achievement was an excellent addition to many years of approval of critics. A sharp breakthrough into the mainstream after years of hard work tells me that everything is just beginning for Peggy. After one hit, she wants to get another, and then the third - so it's time to get acquainted with her not very extensive discography and monitor the development of events with me.
