His father, Johann Strauss, the eldest, practically did not engage in the upbringing of his children, as he constantly toured in Europe. But, the only thing he followed very strictly and demanded the same thing from his wife Anna is that the children do not compose music and not learn to play the violin. But, the elder brother Johann, despite his father’s prohibitions, secretly learned to play the violin and added to this Eduard.

The father intended it for a diplomatic career, but Edward was completely devoted to music. After the death of his father, at the family council in the year it was decided that since Brother Johann could not burst between the tour, performances in Vienna and compounds, the second brother Joseph should replace his brother and conduct his father's orchestra. When the elder brother Johann began to disappear for six months in Russia, Joseph had to work a lot and since he was very poor health, he eventually overwork.

And then Edward came to the rescue. In the year, for the first time he conducted the orchestra of his brother Johann. Since then, the posters have been written on the posters of Strauss and the audience did not know which of the brothers she would listen to. Eduard, like the brothers, conducted, played the violin and composed the waltz. Eduard did not have any noticeable creative talent, but he composed about two hundred dance plays.

It was considered the best interpreter of the works of his father and brothers. Eduard was extremely beautiful and therefore really liked the public. He conducted a chapel of Strauss for three decades, up to her dissolution of the year. In the year he came to Russia and with great success conducted concerts in Pavlovsk. In him, he published memories - a very subjective, vengeful and inaccurate chronicle of the Strauss family.

He concerts to a very old age, but he got to write waltzes worse and worse. Then, having announced that the era of the Vienna waltz was finished, he burned a whole chest of manuscripts of his father and brothers in furnaces for firing bricks. The owner of the brick workshop begged Edward not to do this, but he was adamant. Edward died on December 28 by his son Johann Strauss - tried to resurrect a family tradition and toured Europe before the First World War.

Every year in Europe, the Strauss Festival is dedicated to the work of Strauss. Spain, Italy, Austria, Portugal, France, Germany - enjoy magnificent waltzes, polka, marches, gallopes, overtures and arias from the operetta of the famous dynasty of composers and conductors of the 19th century - Strauss.
